Well, Req, now that you mention it, I did get Force Commander. But the best part of that game was the opening cinema. :bs

Rebellion was a galactic scale fight between the Empire and the Rebels. Planets were rated for the amounts of materials and energy it could produce. Then you could build lots of buildings once researched.

The best thing I liked about it was as the Empire, Vader and Thrawn, yes you could get Thrawn as an admiral, leading Dark Jedi and commanding fleets with a Death Star and the Jump inhibator ship from the Thrawn saga, were just about unbeatable.

The galaxy was rated in the number of sectors determined by the size of the galaxy you chose. Each sector then had a varying number planets. when found, some will have indigenus population with loyalties rated for either the Empire or the Rebellion.

One stat that the heros are rated with is diplomacy, for influencing the loyalty of the planet and swing it to either side. The best diplomat for the Rebels is Leia Organa. While the best for the Empire is Darth Vader.

Now one of the concepts I really enjoyed in this game was that the more you used a skill, the better it got. For example Grand Admiral Thrawn, who is one of the best admirals for the Empire, the more he wins fleet battles, the better his fleet command skills go up. Or for example, the more Leia uses her diplo skills, the more it rises.

Each hero is rated for Diplomacy, Loyalty, Ground Combat, Research, Fleet Combat, and Fighter Combat. I thought the skills were spot on and in conjunction with what you see in the movies.

Each ground unit is a regiment, and each fighter unit is a squadron. As you research you unlock more units, buildings, ships and fighters. they even had the Noghri Death Commandos, and the Bothans for special ops units. Speaking of, you can also run a whole slew of spec. ops missions, form assination, to kidnapping a hero, sabotage and intel gathering.

In my opinion, the reason most gamers did not like this game was the sheer number of things you could do, and would be done unto you unless guarded against. There is a lot of micromanaging in this game, but I say so what. Conquering the galaxy should not be dumbed down in my opinion. :bs

Since this has turned into a review, I am going to split it off and make a new thread for it.

Star Wars Rebellion is an old game, but I hear is a fun one for all those hard core strategist. Fascinating. Very, very fascinating.

hey, Thor, could you access the Emperor's Hand Mara Jade? As I'd figure she would be an important spec op agent for the Empire.

Whoa! Haegan epic thread necromancy dude! :as

But I gotta enforce the rules for everyone. A thread should not be replied to unless new insights or thougjhts on the topic are posted. Posts that do not contribute to the subject beyond agreement are considered gravedigging and a big no no. :w

So please, if you need to perform some thread necromancy try and add a wee bit more beyond saying you have it and play it. :bs

Also, I left you a PM.

Cheers, Þórgrímr
