Starfist
Anyone read this awesome series... I believe they are working on book 12 as we speak.... I've managed to turn about 10 Marines onto this series and we all love it. Speaks volumes about the Corps. (being written by a Soldier and a Marine both vets of 'Nam has its advantadges too)....

and my next favorite

Gaunt's Ghosts (Warhammer 40,000)
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/184416 ... F8&s=books

I love Abnett's penchant for actually NAMING an extra and killing him in the same paragraph... I've started to keep a character tally. In Ghostmaker (Book 2) he introduces 98 characters.... and kills 42 of them... or so. (Yeah Lemoore is boring enough to where I'd do something like that to fill in the time.)

Rob has told me of the Starfist series, but I have never read any of the books myself. He said the Gunny saga reminds him of those books. :bs

Yeah.... the main character is Gunny/Staff Sergeant/Gunny again Charles Bass. An asskicker that is pretty much as David Sherman put it, a mixture of all the good qualities of NCOs and SNCOs that he'd served with in Vietnam.

Then there are the unforgettables. Corporals Dean and Claypoole. Lance Corporal "Hammer" Schultz.... Pretty much makes the Colonial Space Marines in Aliens look bad.... :sp

You have no idea how gratifying it is to find another Starfist fan!!!

I can't wait to read Firestorm. I'm picking up Pointblank on the Tuesday it comes out as well. Dean, Claypoole, or Schultz would have to be my favorite junior NCO's, with Bass being my favorite senior NCO (naturally). I really like Captain Conorado too.

Runs a little slow but David and Dan are constantly talking with us fans and we try and do everything to get the word out on the streets for them. And yes there is a Claypoole Fanclub as well.....

Brigadier Sturgeon also won my hurt during number II and General Aguilnaldo in number III and later....

and don't get me started on Madam President Chang-Sturdevant.... I guess she's a dreamworld politician...

LOL I know the feeling.

I've got three I know of:

BarcelonaBlom
Wolfblade
Goldenhide

Usually I go with Wolfblade with the other two playing alternate.... Helps keep things organized I guess....

Heh, I put it more politely than that, I believe I asked if the invisibilty function on the armor was inspired by Starfist, IIRC :AH

Wolf, I have a small description of my Experimental Combat Armor that BOS was referring to in the Weapons and Armor section of The Wasted World of Gunnery Sergeant Dickinson in case you wish to check it out. :AH
