i just found a recruiting website for the french foreign legion. i thought those hard arse fuckers had been disbanded a few years ago. anyway, like usual recruiting sites, they make it look and sound easier and more galmorous than it really is. and when they openly admit that for your 5 year term as a legionairre you're not allowed civilian clothes, civilian bank accounts, or even your own identity, well, fuck.

www.legion-recrute.com

its in french.

Lol, Miles I have to say I agree with you on that one. :bs The only part of the Froggie military I had any respect for. But then again, the soldiers are not even French, so that may be the reason. :w

The March de la Legion is on there somewhere. And if you are interested in WWII music from around the world they have lots of it, mostly German and Anglo-Allied.

i have a book somewhere written by a pommy bloke who was in the Legions 2nd Para Regiment when that was going down. it's all diary entries, and it's really quite interesting. track it down if you can - "Legionairre" by Simon Murray.

some of the training he descries... christ. When they're playing with grenades, there's one bit where the NCO is in a pit (foxhole to you yanks) throwing grenades out to the hapless punter, who had to catch it and throw it back. The fun bit was that the NCO would pull the pin every so often. direct quote - "Better than catching cricket balls"
