Colony Titles
It appears that all colonies are titled Next City
... could I suggest that it is changed to .... ummm ... Work Camp or Resource Outpost or Scrounging Facility

Strategic Resources
Concerning the long text what messes up the rightclick terrain tile info box.
... perhaps change the following.
LargeCal Ammo ... to Munitions
SmallCal Ammo ... to simply Ammo

Btw ... things I really like
... I just love watching the Bots go about their business, ATM they are building roads far out into the yellow to secure resources.
... I also had to laugh when the Rifle Infantry continue to burp :bl

Brilliant !!! :AH

I editted this ost as it was a first version of the one below and I lost my connection mid edit :AE

Yeah ... we have movement on the thread :bs

This is a good sign!

I waded through into the early hours on this game ... it is soooo addictive.

... so it was only fitting for you Oh great leader to wade through my essay :gl ... thanks for the answers.

Question ... Is there a To Do List anywhere ??
... I would find it beneficial if there is a list of the elements that you want addressed, that way I could concentrate my meagre skills to be more helpfull :AE
... wondering that it may also be usefull to list known errors.

The unexpected Crash
I don't recall when exactly it happened but will certainly look out for it
... Happened Again :AM ... I have reported in more detail in the Bug Thread

Right Click Crash to Desktop
This happened in WH, but I believe has been rectified ... I will investigate.

'Barbs are Pussycats' comment
I retract this as in some games they are tough and have developed a fierce taste for dog meat and even workers :sp

Glad it is becoming active again ... Hi BOS :AH
Hope we are ALL well rested over the hiatus.

Thought I'd pick an avatar that matches the thread's colour scheme :bl

btw ... my AIM is fe3333au if anyone wants to chat ...

Response to a Query

It was from mrtn ... who is one of the driving forces behine the WH mod .... his comments are coloured in cyan

Quote:
... I came across two problems in the game that if memory serves me correct, were evident in earlier versions of WH.

Minor problem
In the pedia ... an entry in the index of city improvements, the picture of the palace is too big.
It has the same height, but the width is double (maybe tripple) ... I recall a similar problem with an early unit index in the WH pedia.
>>> Did someone add a large pedia icon instead of a small? Check if that's it, if not, give me a screen shot.

Major Problem
I think I recall this occuring ... a crash to desktop occurs when in city view, you right-click on a building that has been completed. It should go to the pedia.
>>> I can't remember this. Non indexed gfx, maybe?

Strange Problem
Sometimes during the game (and apparently only with two out of the 8 civilizations available) the game unexpectedly crashes to desktop ... it happens during the AI's turn.
Have you heard of this type of problem?

Thanks for your time :goodjob:
Dunno about this.

/Cheers, mrtn

I'll keep trying :AH

Other stuff ... What do they do
... no description in the pedia.

What does Sentry Tower do?
What does the Small Wonder ... Rediscovering Trade do?

Just got an e-mail from Vuldacon (unit maker from CFC)

Quote:
<snip>

I have been in touch with Ken about the "Crawling Brain"

<snip>

Have been working on the "Crawling Brain" that Ken wants. Perhaps it would fit in Escape from Zombie Island 2 as well.

I will attach a render of what I have so far so you can get an idea of what it will look like. I made all textures and Uv maps for the Brain and Spine and they look as I want anyway...I used my Skreech segmented body parts for that...Dirty Bones look for it lol.

<snip>

Image

Man that is going to be some crazy unit :bs

Observation about Mutee Worker
Noticed that they stand still when attacked ... Since I have the latest version of the WH mod, I'll check the Goblin Worker files to see if about the missing a file.
What exactly would I be looking for?

Yeah I think I will change the colony title to Scavenger's Guild outpost. As there is a Scavenger's Guild building you can build in the cities.

In Fallout they were called Large Caliber Ammunition and Small Caliber Ammunition, so I have to keep those names. :bs

Glad you are enjoying the mod, only that game killing bug with the Enclave and BOS are preventing movement forward towards a release date. :cry

As of right now, if you can concentrate on trying to use your great attention to detail and try and track down the crash that would be your first priority. Meanwhile I will finish the larger map and patch my copy of c3c and lets see what happens. As I have a sneaky suspicion that the bug may be caused by that, but why it does not affect the other civs is driving me crazy!!!! :ad

Fe, is there any way you could get MSN or YIM? As Greg also has MSN and we all can chat on MSN then if you can get it.

Cheers, Thor

I don't have the space :cry

Is there any way you can get on AIM ... it really is a Nifty little programme and takes little space and DL size

EDIT ... I actually DLed the YIM instal programme ... but had to stop because of the size required :AM

Fe, I already have two IM services, my old comp can't handle AOL's IM. You know, you could always uninstall AIM. :w

DLed the new patch and testing as Encave

Barbarian Uprising
> I noticed, but hard to see because I cannot see the whole map ... has the barbarian uprising been toned down?

I have not noticed the very scary Deathclaws being hatched.

EDIT ... Ooops spoke too soon :AE ... although I'm not sure what the trigger was as I was alreday in the second age of technologies.

The barb uprising depends on existing barb camps. If none are in your area, it won't bother you too much. BUT if you have not cleared out the camps before the barb uprising occurs, all I can say is DUCK and COVER! :bs

Just a lil nit to pick, the civ you are testing is the ENCLAVE :w

Oh Werner, if you can think of ANY techs, buildings, or wonders that would fit for the civ you are testing, by all means suggest away.

Brahmin the Two headed Cow

I gained access to the Brahmin resource when I cptured a Mob city ... new builds became available ... :bl Love the concept ... actually used it in my story that coincided with Escape from Zombie Island pbem

However I came across these entries which were confusing.

Brahmin required for Kennels.
Image
Query ... would not the wolf (badlands packs) resource be not more appropriate?

Brahmin required for Iguana.
Image

Also mentioned that the Brahmin is required for Jets.

Query ... this is all very confusing

However as mentioned I have used these to create some fluff for the turn reports ... thought I'd add them here for a laugh ... they were found in a strange facility my security units took in the zombie pbem game. :w

LOL, Fe, the reason Brahmin is used for the Dog Kennels is the meat to feed the dogs.

For Iggy Bob's the increased availability of FOOD in the wastes makes folks really happy. Besides, you need to play the game to get the full scoop on Iggy Bob. :w

And Brahmin shit is a key component of Jet, right out of the RPG. :bs

I hope this explanation helps some. :ac

LOL ... Thought there had to be a logical reason for the Brahmin :gl

Regarding Chat ... I have a syatem that needs desparate upgrading (due to available space and also DLing is an issue as I am on a very sloooow dial up.)

I got the exe for YIM but 20+ megs is a problem :sad

Reason I use AIM is that is takes only a little space the application is 60K.

I am looking into getting a newer system however I have to pay a ... ummm ... fine :vm ... and some bills :AM

It will happen ... but I am unsure exactly when ...

In the interim, perhaps if we have a big chat I can be on AIM and BOS13 can relay for me ... not the best solution but the best I can offer at the moment :AE

What time zone are you in Fe? I'm normally on about 3-4 PM Eastern on weekdays, and off and on on weekends.

Wonders

The question was to think about potential wonders to introduce.

Question ... is there a Great Library sort of wonder?
If not, what about having one,

Named
> Project Archive
> The Great Sorting
> etc

Draft Description
All scavengers, traders and badland explorers are told to gather, buy, steal any and every piece of data storage device ... which in turn gets sifted through, catalogued and cross referenced. Through this process sometimes new technology is found. (bit lame but hey it's late)

Wonders Specific to Enclave
The Enclave from what I've been told is like the old guard traditionalists ... I'm thinking that they would hold the old days as the optimum which has to be strived for.

The Great Seal ... graphic would be the Great Seal of America ... and it would give a happiness benefit, reduced corruption,

They had a Dream ... which is a memorial statue to the Founders of the Enclave ... increase in production and science.

Tomb of the Unknown Soldier ... when this is discovered, excavated and brought back to the city. It would instill pride for the yesteryear warriors who fought for Truth, Justice and the American Way ... If you have any spare graphics perhaps some elitish unit could be spawned ... else maybe a cheap upgrader ,,, or something else military based.

Getting tired ... nite :AH

I've got a rough draft of the New Reno description, let me know what you think :AH

Though New Reno suffered little structural damage in the Great War, postwar looting and rioting took its toll on the city. Eventually out of the power vacuum crime families would emerge to carve sections of the city for themselves. Eventually they realized that constant infighting would cut down on the money they made, and banded together to maximize profits. The Mordinos controlled production of the most addicting drug in the Wasteland, Jet, and that significantly boosts their financial assets. The Salvatores have advanced weaponry to offset their relatively small numbers, and make up a lot of the specialists in the armed forces the Families field. The Bishops and Wrights have little to contribute other than sheer numbers. Even so, the New Reno Mobs do not want a war, as it cuts down on their income. Above all in Reno, they serve the Almighty Dollar.

Oh, by the way, I've noticed that there's no expression change on the citizenry when you make them happy or angry. I know it's not a priority, but if there's supposed to be a change I just felt like pointing it out.

@Werner, I like those Wonder suggestions for the Enclave, good job I will try and track down some gfx for the wonders.

And IIRC, the Dome of Rememberance, is the new Great Library replacement.

@ BOS, good job on the Mobs, and if you can create the angry look for the popheads, be my guest. Or maybe Vuldacon can make them when he gets time.

I just finished a 120 turn test game with the BOS, and I am now confident the bug be squished.

One observation I have seen with the new patch, the AI is MUCH more aggressive. Hell even I lost two settlers to Radscorp attacks. Was pissed and delighted all at the same time. :bs

Regarding the Great Library "Dome of Rememberence" ... Good that it is In :AH

A small wonder idea
So that leaves the idea and concept of ... every civilization should be able to build a small wonder which is their own version
... of the concept of gathering all written and recorded (data storage) material together and then through a process of sifting and cross referencing all this mass of pre war data ... gain a benefit.

Each Civ would have a unique title for this project, but the graphic would probably be the same (maybe the wierd ones would be different - Bots)

> The Great Audit
> Project Archive
> Data Sort
> Initiate Catalogue Programme
> Knowledge Gathering
> Think Tank Initiative
... anyway you get the idea.
> The Great Discussion ... new creature civ ... or maybe ... The Sharing of Stories, which would be a gathering and stories shared with everyone about what has been seen or heard.

Pre-requisite ... would be that at least 5 Libraries (Data Dump for Bots) have been built.

Effect ... Maybe make it an increase of the entire civilizations accumulated beakers or only that city ???

Naming Stuff
I'm wondering if it is a good idea for civs to have a difference label (and later a possibly unique graphic) for a building that does the same thing.

Reason, especially the Bots (why would they build a scavenger market, hey would build something with the same result but called something different)

Question ... Is there a speadsheet or a list of all buildings that can be constructed somewhere???
... if in a text file in game files please direct me to the source.
> I am very interested in this, and feel that having the more stranger civs having totally unique titles for things will certainly add to the game.

Observation of Mob Units
> regarding the nomenclature of the Mobs, I wonder if they would not have a more 'Soprano' feel to the units.
... Having units called - Enforcer, Hitman, Goon, Thug, Brut, Gangsta, main Man, Pimp, Fingers.

This again following the theme of individualising the civs more ... now please understand that I am coming from a week of testing and that only playing the Enclave ... and I've noticed that many civs already have an individual feel ... but we can do wonderful things ...

The WH mod has totally different feel and look for all grpoups and then the civs within the group. ... some even have their own techs.

Decision ... Thor, I'm proposing to start a Spreadsheet
... a Bible for the Project if you like.
... The resulting spreadsheet can be used as a quick check for bugs in the text entry of the game.
... and a good double check for when changes are tweeked.
... It will be cross referenced to the civs, eras and could even be used to check graphics and text entry.
Request ... can you e-mail me what you got which will assist in this project.

I guess the thing I'm talking about is maybe not a priority to get it to a Beta release stage ... but then again .. could we have a To Do List posted somewhere?
... I for one work better with one .. :AE
... I used to be the Production Director of an experimental opera company (which I co-founded) and am used to working with the left brainers (directors, composers, artists) as well as the techos and actual doers LOL. ... My role was to ground and focus the team, while not strangling the creative process :w

Game Play
... noticed that it is difficult to get out of negative economy ... I understand the concept of it being a struggle ... but I'm thinking at the 10% upto 20% ... even 30% surely the rate would be positive.
At this stage zero research is still negative ... every town has library.
I tend to over build but ...
What are other's thoughts ???

WOW ... I got promoted :bl

Kennel ... Initial Promlem with Concept

A Kennel requires Brahmin resource ... LOL now that I understand it, i like it.

Once the Brahmni resource is connected then every city is able to build it ... makes sense cos the resource is a rare thing and dead meat is easy to transport.

BUT ... I don't like that it will spawn a dog every 15 turns.

Result is that every city can build it and therefore you end up with a mass of canine units.
Question ... do these units have a support cost?

Suggestion ... but not played in game, so want feedback from others .... I'd get rid of spawn and just make em' really cheap.

OR

Have them spawn, but make it that the unit can be upgraded to something better when a certain tech is discovered ... advanced animal training
... use a funny graphic too (if you can find or have created) ... I could try a basic one ... but I'm thinking some idiot celebrity dog training video type of graphic

... anyway just initial thoughts.

Question ... is it possible to have it spawn a unit, that you have the choice the upgrade??
Spawned unit ... no support cost
Upgraded unit ... support cost

.... is it possible to have a choice of upgrade path.

I'm thinking a standard mangy dog unit ... but depending on the training either becomes a guard dog or a war dog???

I'm lost in ideas and am unsure as to if I do or don't like the Kennels ... maybe make em' costly ... I just don't want every town and city to have them and them the whole map is filled with dogs which are not being used.

I guess just opening discussion :AH

Also ... :cry Please Please Tell me what a Sentry Tower does ???

EDIT ... Why is one population deducted from city when a Deathclaw is produced ???

Curious Thing

I just received a message that Dick Grey of the Unity failed to plant a spy ... it is strange as at this stage only the Bots and NCR have embassies with me.

Query ... How is this possible?

Do the Vaulters need additional city names???

> Haven, New Eden, Sancturary, Fail Safe, Executive Shelter 12,

... or just more numbers 36, 17, etc

Question - Where do these files live in the game files?

New way of looking at the Bots

I'm thinking some of the small wonders or whatever for the Bots could very well be the system progammes :bs

... when these 'programmes' are completed, they automatically increase stats of the city or build a 'library' or Barracks' in each city ... be like a software upgrade which improves the former code or a 'patch'.

This would require a new technology chart ... but it could very well be achievable.

The research rate would take longer as the effects would be greater and less random.

'Nodes' or components would be built in cities ... to increase the rate of research, storage, growth, defence, economy, etc.

I feel that this could really alienise the Bot civ :AH

The value of the Border Tiles

I built a city near the northern border ... I knew that it was a border because I could not move my worker onto the 'forest'.

Within the city screen ... the value of the tile is 1 food.

Is this default??

If not ... I propose to have it changed to 1 each of food, shield and cash.
